"Woe to those who enact unjust statutes and who write oppressive decrees, depriving the needy of judgment and robbing my people's poor of their rights, making widows their plunder, and orphans their prey." Isaiah 10:1-2
"America's Rebel Attorney," Dan Ivy, has earned the reputation as an aggressive and crusading attorney who is not afraid to go after the rich and powerful by standing up for truth and justice, and is one of a  dying breed of attorneys, the likes of which once made America great.  This colorful Arkansas country lawyer with his trademark black cowboy hat and boots has become a legend by taking on those cases that others are afraid to tackle.

He knows what it is like to be poor and powerless as he grew up on a farm in the Cache River bottoms of Jackson County in eastern Arkansas.  Armed with only a fifth grade education he defied and overcame the odds by getting a GED, going on to college and law school, and then acquiring a prestigious Masters of Law in Agricultural Law from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Law School.

Dan Ivy has handled some of the most controversial clients and cases from the Oklahoma City Bombing Case to personally suing some of the richest people and the largest corporations in the world. While an attorney has a duty as an officer of the Court to give the Judge the respect and dignity that the office so richly deserves, he cannot back down to injustice and bias even if he is threatened with being put in contempt of court and thrown in jail!

He has on more than one occassion been held in contempt of court for daring to stand up for his client's rights.  If your attorney doesn't dare to stand up for you then who is going to?  He has been called the "Bravest Attorney in America" by author Stephen Marshall for his standing up to the Chicago justice system and "A Crusading Attorney" by the late television investigative journalist and judical cruasder Sherman Skolnick.  Licensed in both Arkansas and the District of Columbia, he also can practice pro hac vice nationwide with associated local counsel.

Dan Ivy is a proud member of the Arkansas Bar Association (ArBA) and the District of Columbia Bar Association (DCBA)

Dan Ivy's Declaration of Principles
Ivy believes in human rights, and that under our great Constitution all individuals have the right to equal representation and protection under the law, regardless of age, race, religion, national origin, sex, or disability.  The only group of individuals that are trained to protect those rights against a potentially tyrannical government and the powerful special interests are, like it or not, attorneys.

During his career, Dan Ivy, has represented some of the most controversial clients from the extreme right to the extreme left and everything that falls between.  If an attorney fails to represent an individual because of their unpoplar beliefs or is fearful of their peer's opinions, then they have also taken away a little of the rights that our forefathers fought so valiantly to ensure and protect.

There was a Lutheran minister who was liberated from a Nazi concentration camp after the Second World War that stated it so well when he said, "First they came for the Jews, and I wasn't a Jew; then they came for the trade unionists and I wasn't a trade unionist.  Then they came for the Catholics and I wasn't a Catholic.  And then they came for me, and no one left to stand up for me!"

If you deny anyone justice under the law then you have also denied yourself the right to equal justice.  I have always represented those powerless and unpopular clients that other attorneys wouldn't represent them.  I believe that an attorney has a duty not to back down from public opinion or the powers that be because he does a disservice to both his client and his profession.

A tough attorney cannot be a "cure all" for all the injustices in the world, but he can uphold the principles of our democracy one case at a time.  I am not afraid to be criticized for representing the powerless or unpopular, because I am carrying out his responsiblities as the guardian of those rights that our U.S. Constitution has guaranteed to all of us.

"At what point is the approach of danger to be expected?  I answer, if it ever reaches us, it must spring up among us, it cannot come from abroad.  If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher.  As a nation of free men, we must live through all times or die of suicide."  Abraham Lincoln.

"The world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes." Benjamin Disraeli, Prime Minister of Great Britain.
